Turbocharge your Roku with 8 tips on the cheap way

As we know, the Roku is the best streaming set-up boxes and affordable. On the other hand, It’s quiet and easy to use with great content support and provides excellent image quality. My verdict on it can be summed up with “It’s awesome!” – after got the Roku, you may want to turbocharge your Roku and maximize your colorful life. Hold on reading…

Tip 1: Control it with your mobile devices

Control it with your mobile devices. Roku’s new iOS app lets you control your box via your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Why would you want to? For starters, there’s an onscreen keyboard, which makes typing out search words way easier than with the Roku’s remote-controlled keyboard. You can also make your Android device to a powerful Roku control center. Furthermore, the app affords one-tap access to your favorite channels, which is a lot faster than hunting for them in that scrolling channel menu. Best of all, the Roku app is free.

Tip 2: Play your favorite video or movies

Want to enjoy your favorite movies with different formats or downloaded content from any website on your Roku? What is the best software for Roku/plex video convert?Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate/iMedia Converter for Mac won’t let you down. Just download and install the software on your PC or Mac and launch the Media Server plugin. It not only does a great job streaming all your local media, but also enables you to access the content library on your Roku (as MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV, WMV, FLV, and more).

With it, you can also enjoy your Blu-rayDVD, and ISO/IFO video files to your and mobile device for enjoying in your spare time.

Tip 3: Watch Youtube Videos

Roku has plenty of channels to keep you busy over the holidays and beyond, but there’s one big one missing: you won’t find any YouTube channel in the Roku channel store. But no worries: You can also use Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate, use it to navigate YouTube’s catalog, and beam the clips of your choice to the Roku, AirPlay -style.

Tip 4: Install third-party channels

Roku has more than 600 channels available through its channel store, which should keep you busy for some time. But there’s more: A few hundred private channels, including adult content and offerings that aren’t quite ready yet for prime time, can be accessed through special channel codes.

Tip 5: Connect your hard drive

Roku’s XDS player features a USB port, and it can play content from both Flash and hard drives. Roku is slated to launch its official USB channel as early as next month. Until then, you’ll have to rely on a private channel (channel code KGULU). Results with this channel have been mixed, but things will hopefully improve once USB support is officially enabled.

Tip 6: Discover the Joy of Indie & B-Movies with Popcornflix.com

If you’re a fan of indie and B-movies, and better yet, if you’re a fan of free indie and B-movies, Popcornflix.com should be your new best friend. A subsidiary of Screen Media Ventures, Popcornflix.com lets you stream and watch free movies on your Roku, and it’s easy to set up. Simply install the Popcornflix channel from the Channel Store on your Roku, and then browse through the different categories of films available. That’s it!

Tip 7: Move Channels on Your Home Screen

If you’ve got a lot of channels on your main home screen and want to organize them by moving them around or grouping them together, you can. From the main menu, select the channel you want to move, and then hit the Option key on your Roku remote (it’s the asterisk * key). That will bring up a submenu, from which you now select Change Channel Position. The channel icon will now be highlighted. Scroll to the location you want to move your channel, and press OK.

Tip 8: Send your family photos to your Mom’s Roku

Let’s say you give your Mom a Roku for the holidays. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could automatically update it with content so she can always see new family photos? Well, guess what? You can, thanks to a clever combination of Dropbox and Roksbox. Just install the Roksbox channel on her Roku as well as a Dropbox app on her PC. Then share a folder via Dropbox with her — and now every time you drag a photo into that shared folder in your local computer, it’s available on her Roku.
